People with colon cancer already have Stage 3, who regularly eat walnuts, have a much lower risk of recurrence and cancer mortality than those who do not use this product, according to a new major study conducted by researchers at the Yale Cancer Center university.

The study followed 830 participants in a clinical trial for 6.8 years after drug therapy and chemotherapy. Those who regularly consumed at least two portions of nuts for one ounce each week showed a 44% improvement in disease-free survival and a 59% improvement in overall survival.
“As further analysis showed, disease-free survival increased by 48% among a subset of nut users who ate tree nuts, not peanuts,” said Charles S. Fuchs noted that nuts can also play a positive role by satisfying hunger with less consumption of carbohydrates or other products associated with poor results.
